When and how will I receive the outcome of my application?
Can I apply without a copy of my ID/Passport document?
Yes, you can apply without submitting a copy of your ID/Passport document.
Can I use the downloaded application form or do I request an original form?
Yes, you may submit a completed application form that you have downloaded. Harcopy applications are R200. Online applications are free.
Can I fax my application form?
No, you may not fax your application form. Applicants are encouraged to apply online. Applicants wanting to submit a hardcopy application form can submit their application form at any of the four Capricorn TVET college campuses or the application can be sent via post to the College.
Can I apply with my mid-year grade 12 results for undergraduate programmes?
No, you may not. Applicants currently in grade 12 must either enter their final grade 11 results online or fill it in on the Hardcopy application form. Selection for applicants who completed grade 12 will be done based on their final grade 12 results.
Do you have financial assistance at Capricorn TVET college?
Yes, we have NSFAS, Eduloan and bursaries, which you may enquire about at our Finance Department on each of our four campuses.
Can I change campuses?
Yes, you can change campuses if and only if the course is offered at the campus on which you wish to study. This would also depend on space availability.
Do I need to pay the application fee if I have previously applied at Capricorn TVET college??
No, this is a one-off payment.
Can I upgrade my results at Capricorn TVET college?
No. You may, however, contact the Department of Basic Education to enquire about this.
Can I apply for Nated or NCV studies if I am writing the National Senior Certificate (NSC) through IEB or SACAI examining bodies?
Yes, Applicants writing the National Senior Certificate (NSC) through IEB or SACAI examining bodies can apply online by selecting “National Senior Certificate” under the Results Detail page of the online application process.
How does one qualify for a mature age exemption?
You would have to contact Universities South Africa (USAf) to enquire about this. USAf will evaluate your matric results and advise if you qualify for mature age exemption or not.
Do I need to apply again if I have applied the previous year and have not been accepted?
Yes, an applicant is required to fill out another application form for each academic year.

Can I apply via email?
No, you may not apply via email. Applicants are encouraged to apply online. Applicants wanting to submit a hardcopy application form can submit their application form at any of the four Capricorn TVET college campuses or the application can be sent via post to the College.
I want to rewrite matric, can the College assist me in this regard?
Capricorn TVET College does not offer matric rewrite courses.
Is Capricorn TVET College a public or private college?
Capricorn TVET College is a public institution registered with the Department of Higher Education.
Do I need to pay a registration upfront as a first entering student?
No. There is no need to pay registration fees upfront as the programme fee is inclusive of the registration fee and it can be paid over settlements before completion of your studies.
What does the status on my online application mean?
Please take note of the following statuses and their meanings:
PENDING VERIFICATION
Placement still in progress. Applicant should not panic, status will soon change.
PENDING REVIEW
Applicant should come during a given period to be processed at the campus.
OUTSTANDING DOCUMENTS
Applicant did not attach all required documents.
WAITING LIST/VERIFIED WAITING LIST
Applicant is accepted but offer expired after certain hours. Applicant should come during given period to be processed at the campus.
PROVISIONAL ACCEPTED
The applicant is temporarily accepted and will receive a notification through SMS or email to accept a study offer within given hours.
PRE-ENROLLED
Applicant has accepted the admission offer and should come during a given period to be processed at the campus.
UNSUCCESSFUL
Admission period has closed and student application was not considered.

How much is the application fee?
I want to study but I do not have funding, how can I be assisted?
The College is a public institution. Therefore, you can apply for funding from NSFAS. Please visit the official NSFAS website at http://www.nsfas.org.za/content/index.html to apply.
What supporting documents are needed when I am a first time applicant?
The following documents are required for all applicants:
- Certified copy of your ID (not older than 3 months)
- Certified parents/guardians certified copy of ID, if you are a dependent
- Grade 12 results/ certificate
- Statement of results
- Proof of residence
Does the College allow walk-ins?
The College does not allow walk-ins. Please check your application status online regularly on www.capricorncollege.edu.za from the student portal to get the final outcome of your application.
Can I change my course after applying to the College?
You can only change the course if there is available space for the course you would like to change to considering that you meet the admission requirements of the course. This process can only be done at the campuses during registration.
Can I transfer to your College if I previously studied at another institution?
Yes, you may transfer to the College. However, you still need to apply either as a first entering applicant or returning student with all the application required documents, which are:
- Certified copy of your ID (not older than 3 months)
- Certified parents/guardians certified copy of ID, if you are a dependent
- Grade 12 results/ certificate
- Statement of results
- Proof of residence
How long does it take to receive feedback after applying?
The responsible section receives a large number of applications. However, the section aims to give feedback as soon as possible after processing all applications received.
Why is my status not changing?
The section responsible for processing applications is currently working on the final application outcomes. Therefore, please check your application status online regularly from the student portal to get the outcome.
How can I access a testimonial letter indicating that I was a student at Capricorn TVET College?
You need to visit the campus you studied at to get a testimonial. Alternatively, you may call 015 230 1800 to be telephonically redirected to the campuses you studied at for assistance.
Does the College have accommodation?
Yes. The College has student residential accommodation at Polokwane, Seshego and Senwabarwana Campus.
How do I apply online?
Please access the student portal at www.capricorncollege.edu.za to write a placement test, choose a programme/course, check entry requirements, submit all required documents and check the status of your application.
Can I apply to the College with a Grade 9 report?
You can only apply to the College with a Grade 11 end of year pass report which grants you the opportunity to enrol for the National Certificates (Vocational) (NCV) programmes.
The status of my application was unsuccessful, what does this mean?
The College receives a large number of applications annually. Therefore, there are issues of capacity constraints as the campuses have a targeted number of students and resources for each academic year, This means in accordance to the admission requirements and selection processes, the College serves the right to select students according to certain College criteria’s. The unsuccessful status could also mean:
- The applicant did not attach all the required documents in the application.
- The applicant did not have the required subjects for the courses he/she applied for.
- The applicant attempted to apply after the application dates closed.

What is the minimum APS required to study at Capricorn TVET College?
The College does not use the APS selection method. An applicant needs to have completed Grade 11 to qualify for NCV courses and passed Grade 12 to be enrolled for Nated (N4-N6) programmes.
Can I apply for graduation if I did not complete one module?
A student is eligible for graduation only if all modules are successfully completed. For more information, please contact 015 230 1800.
