Community Engagement Learnerships and Skills Programmes (CELS) section ensures that learners enrolled for various training interventions are exposed or trained according to their qualifications so that what is assessed, moderated or trade tested is certified competent on first attempt. We ensure that learners are trained in an environment that is conducive for teaching and learning and also that the workplace is approved by the relevant Quality Assuring Partner.
The section also assists learners with Enterprise Development trainings or workshops. We ensure that learners receive quality training, so that they become employable or self-employed. In addition, the section ensures that certification ceremonies are conducted for all interventions and invites former learners who were enrolled in other programs and have succeeded, as this will motivate others.
CELS Within College TVET College is Mandate to Offer Training in Various Interventions as Follows:
- Short Skills Programme
- Learnerships
- Artisanal DevelopmentÂ
The above mentioned interventions are funded by various Quality Assuring Partners (SETA – Sector Education and Training Authority) and other private or public institutions.
Short Skills Programme
- The short skills programme may be credit bearing or non-credit bearing and the duration is less than six months.
- After completion learners will be issued with a Statement of Results (SoR) should he or she certified competentÂ
- Statement of Results are issued by the relevant SETA it be MerSETA, FP&M, INSETA etc.Â
- Learners are provided with fit for purpose Protective Personal Equipment (PPE) and consumables.Â
- Short Skills has got both institutional and Workplace training depending on the duration of the programme.
- Learners receive a monthly stipend based on allocated funds either by SETAs or other Institutions (Public or Private).
Learnerships
There are two types of Learnerships which are (Employed) and (Unemployed)
- Â The Learnership programmes are credit bearing and the duration is twelve (12) months.
- Consist of unit standards and differ depending on the number of credits. Â
- After completion learners will be issued with a Statement of Results (SoR) and Certificates should he or she certified competentÂ
- Statement of Results and Certificates are issued by the relevant SETA.
- Learners are provided with fit for purpose Protective Personal Equipment (PPE), consumables and tool box depend on type of programme.Â
- Learnership has got both institutional and Workplace training for twelve months.
- Learners receive a monthly stipend based on allocated funds either by SETAs or other Institutions (Public or Private).Â
